Baltic Education Technology Institute (BETI) was founded by an active team of professionals who had been specializing in ICT and education technologies since 1996. While implementing different education and training activities in higher education and vocational training there was accumulated rich experience, knowledge and skills in virtual learning environments, ICT enhanced training, distance education methodology and other ICT related fields.

The team has been actively participating in national and European initiatives, namely, Framework, Eureka, Socrates, Leonardo da Vinci, Phare, UNESCO and others.

The main purposes of the Institute are:

  • Apply scientific, methodic and practical activities to encourage ICT based training and learning in order to balance smooth education, social and economic development;
  • Seek for development of democratic, wide-accessed and self-dependant training conditions for all citizens while implementing lifelong learning paradigm, developing distance learning initiatives, and creating information systems for training, guidance and counseling;
  • Seek for Institute's input in the development, implementation and dissemination of modern information communication systems and other modern technologies;
  • Support IT based project and process management, in cooperation with organizations and individuals seeking to ensure effectiveness and quality of implemented activities and provided services.

BETI personnel have been specializing in the following specific activities:

  • Analyzing Lithuanian potential to get integrated into global education, economic and other worldwide structures;
  • Analyzing education, social and economic processes, indicating development priorities and spreading related information for SMEs, state and public institutions;
  • Analyzing and developing IT based learning means and tools while seeking for effectiveness and quality of training and learning processes;
  • Developing and disseminating education services for SMEs and other different market segments while raising competence of the society and developing lifelong learning possibilities through modern education technologies;
  • Developing and implementing different information systems to support business process effectiveness;
  • Spreading information and knowledge about newest information technologies, their applications and investment funds;
  • Undertaking education activities, providing counseling and services for initiators and coordinators of national and international projects;
  • Initiating and participating in national and international projects;
  • Participating in activities of relevant national and international associations;
  • Supporting local and international cooperation.
